born in kabul, where girls were forbidden to learn, yasmeena discovered art through play. with nothing to do and everything to feel, she turned to the earth: pebbles became palettes, sand became canvas, a single cloth became her entire world. she painted skin with henna, arranged twigs like sculptures, lost herself in the quiet language of making.
now she works across mixed media, continuing this journey of playing, of being. her work exists at the intersection of tenderness and rage, beauty and brutality.
currently based in central/eastern europe. between paintings, she cooks, reads, writes, and collects languages like others collect stones.
